The rail transit dispatch center is known as the "brain" of urban rail transit, and every decision is related to the travel safety and operational efficiency of thousands of passengers. As the core carrier of interaction between dispatchers and systems, the control panel faces extreme operating conditions of 7 × 24 hours non-stop, and a slight mistake in selection may pose safety hazards.

1、 Structural reliability: the bottom line for 7 × 24-hour operation

The rail transit dispatch center implements a three shift or even four shift work system, with almost no "rest" time for the control console. The requirements for structural strength and durability far exceed those of ordinary office furniture.

The load-bearing capacity of the main framework is the first hurdle. Multiple displays, dispatch telephones, broadcasting equipment, control terminals, etc. are usually deployed on the dispatch desk, and the total weight of a single tabletop device can reach 100-200 kilograms. Under long-term high load, if the frame material is not up to standard, it is easy to cause problems such as sinking and deformation of the tabletop. The mainstream solution in the industry is to use high-strength cold-rolled steel main frame with a wall thickness of not less than 1.5mm, combined with modular crossbeam structure, to ensure a single point load capacity of ≥ 100kg and an overall load capacity of ≥ 500kg.

The redundancy design of electrical systems is indispensable. 24/7 operation means that the power supply cannot be interrupted. The professional console will be equipped with dual power supply interfaces internally, combined with independent power distribution units (PDUs). Taking a medium-sized subway line as an example, during the morning rush hour, train dispatchers need to monitor the operating status of more than 30 trains simultaneously, and make operational judgments on average every 30 seconds.

Display layout is the core of ergonomics. Professional rail transit control consoles typically adopt a layered layout of "main visual area+auxiliary area": the main visual area (within a 15 ° range of horizontal line of sight) houses the core train dispatch display screen, while the auxiliary area houses secondary information screens such as CCTV monitoring and power monitoring. The alternating sitting and standing design has gradually become a standard feature. More and more new dispatch centers are adopting electric lift control consoles. Entering a rail transit dispatch center, outsiders are looking at the large screen and lighting, while experts are looking at cable management. Behind a messy console, there are often many problems such as poor contact, signal interference, and poor heat dissipation.

The separation of strong and weak electricity is a fundamental principle. There is both a 220V strong power supply and weak electrical signals such as HDMI/DP video cables, RJ45 network cables, RS232 control cables, etc. on the dispatch console. If strong and weak electricity are laid in the same slot, the electromagnetic interference generated by strong electricity will affect the quality of video signals, and in severe cases, it may even cause data transmission packet loss. The heat dissipation design directly affects the lifespan of the equipment. The console cabinet integrates heating devices such as hosts, switches, power modules, etc. If the heat dissipation is not good, the temperature inside the cabinet may exceed 50 ℃, greatly shortening the service life of electronic devices. Professional heat dissipation solutions usually adopt a "front bottom air inlet, rear top air outlet" air duct design, combined with intelligent temperature control fans.

4、 Anti interference and Scalability: Future oriented Considerations

The electromagnetic environment of rail transit dispatch centers is much more complex than that of ordinary offices. There are a large number of communication base stations and power equipment around, and the dispatch hall is also densely packed with equipment.

Electromagnetic shielding is the first line of defense against interference. The metal cabinet of a high-quality console itself has a certain shielding effect, but the key lies in the treatment of the joints.
